On the occasion of the exhibition Hidemi Takagi: Stories, we invited students from Madiba Prep Middle School of Social Justice and Innovation to a photography workshop with the artist. Hidemi Takagi set up her photography studio and discussed with the students the digital photography process. We have asked the students about their interests and offered different roles they can play during the workshop, e.g. photographer’s assistant, prop assistant, model or stylist. The practical part of the workshop involved having their portrait taken and discussIon on the formal aspects of the photographs and, finally, taking photos themselves.
